Both players pick a secret 4-digit code. Every code uses four different digits and never starts with 0. You take turns guessing, and each guess comes back scored.

+1 means one digit is correct and in the right position. −2 means two digits are in the code but in the wrong position. First player to score +4−0 wins.

Take the code 4271 and the guess 4812. The 4 is correct and in the right spot, so +1. The 1 and the 2 are in the code but in different positions, so −2. The 8 isn't in the code at all and doesn't appear in the score.

The keypad also marks digits it has worked out from your scores: a green dot means the digit is in the code, a red dot means it isn't.

You get 5 ranked matches a day for free. The counter resets at 00:00 UTC. Only matches that actually start count — if an opponent never enters their code, it doesn't use one up.

Practice mode, puzzles and matches against the bot are not limited.

Unlimited matches — the daily limit is removed. That is the whole benefit; there is no separate content or advantage in the game itself.

Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID and renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel them in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device — we cannot cancel a subscription for you.

Open the app, go to the paywall and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you bought it with. If it still doesn't appear, email us with the date of purchase and we'll sort it out.

On the home screen tap the link icon, then Create Room. You'll get a 6-character room code and a share button. Send the link to your friend — when they open it, they drop straight into your room and you both pick your codes.

If the link is awkward to send, they can instead tap Join with Code and type the 6 characters by hand. Codes are not case-sensitive and never contain the letters I or O, or the digits 0 or 1.

The link only opens the app if the app is installed. If it isn't, they'll land on a web page with the room code and a link to the App Store.

Some chat apps open links in their own built-in browser, which can stop the app from opening automatically. If that happens, tap Open in App on that page — or just read the room code off it and use Join with Code in the app.

Invite rooms don't stay open forever. If your friend takes a long time to join, create a fresh room and send a new link.

Not yet. +3−1 is currently iOS only. The Android version is in progress.

Everyone starts at 800. You gain rating for winning, gain more for beating a higher-rated player, and gain more for winning in fewer guesses. You lose rating for losing. Your rating decides who you're matched against.

Yes — open Profile and edit them there.

Open Profile → Delete Account and confirm. This removes your account, profile, statistics, friendships and invites. It cannot be undone.

Deleting the app from your phone is not the same thing — your account stays on our servers until you delete it. If you can't get into the app, email us and we'll delete it for you.

No. When you sign up with an email or with Apple, your existing guest account is upgraded in place, so your rating, statistics and friends all come with you. Just do it before you uninstall the app or switch phones — a guest account only exists on the device that created it.

Please tell us. Include what you were doing, what happened instead, your device model and iOS version, and a screenshot if you have one. That's usually enough for us to reproduce it.
